Drama in the Sky 3 by musickscapes Drama in the Sky 3 by musickscapes
1.5 miles east of the East Entrance to Yellowstone Nat'l Park, Wyoming
September 2005

This was the sky our first night at the Shoshone lodge. We had to go down the road to eat and this amazing cloud formation was coming up over the mountains of Yellowstone. We wondered, at first, if it wasn't Old Faithful, but it wasn't. Still have no idea what created this bizarre and interesting cloud formation. It was more like steam than a cloud and it was fast moving. And quite beautiful! I can see an angel flying in the shadows.

Thanks...it made a truly amazing coffee mug that I just got today! How do they do that, put the image on the mug like that...it turned out better than I expected it to..now I'm ready for xmas! LOVE dA LOL

It was an amazing thing to watch as it changed and moved so quickly. It really looked like some type of thermal activity. Saw a special on Yellowstone last week and it spoke of these phenomena, so I expect it is what it appears. Steam rising from the earth! I just feel lucky to have been there to get the shot. I think good photography isn't just about metering, composition, camera settings...but also about luck. Just being at the right place at the right time. I've got to learn to carry my camera everywhere I go just in case.

that's true; that's why some people (mostly filmers) hang around on one place for days! (i always want to do the same ... but somehow I always forget the camera ^^; )
... :tears: i haven't seen anything like it while I've been to yellowstone ><

Thanks...ya, I wish I could do that. Just sit and wait for the shot! I kept seeing places that in the right light would be so awesome to shoot! But that was the trade off for wanting to see so much of Wyoming in such a short time period. ;-)

Yes... I did a bit of dodging/burning to bring out the features the way I remembered them that night. It was unbelieveable and surreal. I really thought it was Old Faithful....looked like some type of geo-thermal activity, did not look like any typical cloud formation at all. It was misty and fast moving. THanks!

100% real, yes. It was one very strange sky, that's for sure. It must have been some sort of geyser event because it was like smoke coming up from a fire, only it was steam. And as it was sunset the colors were spectacular. THANKS for stoppnig by :-)

I wish I knew....we thought it was steam from Old Faithful, but alas, not possible....but I am thinking some type of thermal action coming up over the mountain. It had a single source point, like a fire would, but it was all steam! Thanks for stopping by!

Hey..dream on....I'm all the way down in Texas and never in a zillion years saw myself traveling to Wyoming, heck anywhere....not cheap..no funds! But sometimes miracles do happen..so keep on dreaming...you never know!

Good luck on school....hahahahaha.....JK! My son is suffering a bad case of senioritus, ready to be off to college like his older sis!!! I'm just glad I'm over all that! I don't envy you students these days at all ;-)

Have a great day, and keep on dreamin'

the fact that I still live at home (I got to University in my own city) makes it easier for my parents to cope... I think they are almost at the point of wanting me out of the house lol

Ya....I love her miss her (My daughter is off in college), but glad she is out living her own life. For me there is much joy in watching them become adults, learning to navigate through this world and become incredible human beings. Guess that isn't the "normal" parental attitude these days seems like parents are overprotective and hang on so long. Build their entire lives around their kids, then when it's time for them to grow up, it is hard! I've always enjoyed watching my kids grow and getting to know the real them!

overprotectiveness just makes a child more likely to push away from there parents in my humble view.... but seeing as I went to University in my own home City... living at home did not feel out of the ordinary (but I am actually wanting to move out more and more as I get older)

Koodos! I've had the chance to watch it happen with my kids and their step-mom! Very stricked! It has been fun to watch my daughter blossomm since she's been away at college! Finally has the chance to become her own person, same with my son who finally had enough and came to live with me!

Nothing wrong with being financially responsible, which would be the case when going to college in the same town...it's when the parents cling and don't let go or don't respect that person (yes, kids are people in my opinion!) enough to allow them to be who they were made to be, even it not within their folks' "plan" for that kid!!!

Have a great Saturday!!!
